The shape of a star is primarily determined by its mass and its stage in its life cycle.
Main-sequence stars, which make up the majority of stars, have a spherical shape due to the pressure and heat generated by nuclear fusion in their cores.
As stars age and exhaust their nuclear fuel, they expand and become red giants. These stars have a more oblate spheroid shape, with a larger diameter at the equator than at the poles.
White dwarfs are the remnants of red giant stars and have a very small size and a spherical shape.
Stars that are more massive than the Sun, called supergiants, have a shape that is more oblate spheroid than spherical due to the stronger gravity at their surface.
Stars that are at the end of their life cycle, such as red supergiants and Wolf-Rayet stars, can have more complex shapes such as bipolar or multipolar shapes due to mass loss and strong stellar winds.
It's worth noting that stars are not perfect shapes, their shapes are affected by the surrounding clouds of gas and dust, and also by the rotation of the star. Also, stars are not static objects, they are always changing, and their shapes can change over time as well.
