coloring page and kids brain

Most kids LOVE coloring pages, and with good reason. A coloring page definitely benefits the development of your child’s brain in multiple ways. Here are just a few:

1. It helps with improvised thinking – By engaging in symbols, patterns, and ideas gradually, your child is practicing her analytical skills on a regular basis and prepares herself for future mathematical challenges (and yes, even if she just wants to color ALL THE THINGS).

2. It trains fine motor skills – Hand-eye coordination is critical when it comes to any form of drawing or painting, so penciling tiny lines or filling in precise dots with colored pencils is definitely beneficial!

3. It boosts problem-solving skills – Coloring activities can require integrating several different cognitive skills at once: critical thinking, group work, planningahead, organization… essentially everything that prepares kids for higher-level academic endeavors.

4. It strengthens creativity – We all know that children who are creative tend to have successful futures* (*source). So by providing them with creative outlets such as coloring pages, you might be encouraging more endless brainstorming sessions and boundaryless imaginations for years to come!
